Monday saw the release of GEM-DOS’s 4 track EP titled ‘Construct’ on Clubstream Green. The first track, ‘When The Dust Settles’, gives you a taste of GEM_DOS’s signature downtempo melodic electronica, it features mellow vocals and an epic build up that gives it lots of soul and emotion. ‘The Brave’ is possibly our favourite track on the EP – warm, melodic and progressive with nice ethereal vocal samples. Next up ‘Breaking Out’ is a nod to the 80’s packed with synths, Hot Chip-esque vocals and another nice build up. The final track ‘Clear’ is tech-house scattered with squishy sounds, warm build ups and ends the EP on a nice chirpy note.
Two words we found ourselves using a lot about this EP were ‘warm’ and ‘progressive’ and that sums up the release nicely. Dreamy, melodic uplifting electronica is something GEM_DOS can nail!
