Richie is back in Ibiza for another season of his highly successful residency Enter at Space. Enter has one of the slickest marketing campaigns on the island, we just love that black dot, so simple, so effective. We were raving at Used + Abused at Ushuaia last week and the Enter promo team were out in force adorning clubbers with black dot tattoo’s – they looked so good we were actually considering getting a real one and made sure not to wash it off for a good few days (we were showering though we promise). So, it’s back on Thursday nights from 4th July running for 13 weeks until September 26th, bigger and better and taking over all five rooms at Space. So on the line-up alongside Richie you can expect to see Gaiser, Tale of Us, Nina Kraviz, Paco Osuna, Matador, Josh Wink, Maya Jane Coles, Jamie Jones, Claude Von Stroke….the list of awesome names goes on and on!
Richie had a chat with Resident Advisor which tells you everything you need to know. Sounds thoroughly excellent!
What are key additions/changes to the ENTER. concept at Space this year?
Taking the next step, this year we have moved things around, rebuilding each room and inviting a deeper selection of artists specifically chosen to create five unique areas each with their own musical journey and audio/visual experience. Our ENTER.Sake room has moved and expanded into Space’s Sunset Terrace with a more playful Japanese-inspired decor that’s perfect for our weekly ENTER. pre-party. Last year’s Sake bar has become this year’s ENTER.Mind area, a cave of exploration into the darker side of slow, throbbing experimental techno. ENTER.Air continues to offer a rooftop breath of fresh air with an eclectic line-up with an even more eclectic selection of melodies and grooves.
This year we take over last year’s Kehakuma room with our own ENTER.Terrace, offering a funkier and perhaps trippier take on the ever-developing sound of modern house music. Rounding it off you’ll find a selection of friends, collaborators, conspirators and myself taking the intensity up a few notches while we explore the depths of beats, bass and darkness in our redesigned ENTER.Main room. Joining me throughout the season are Minus and ENTER. alumni Gaiser & Matador and a series of special collaborations with my friends Sven Väth, Loco Dice, Luciano and Visionquest! We’ll also be introducing an ENTER. “Inner Circle” RFID membership card for our friends, supporters and core fans. Music, Sake, technology… It’s going to be an incredible season!
What is the plan for the terrace now Kehakuma have moved to their own event on Saturday at Space?
This year we feel we have a better flow within the ENTER.Terrace. We’ve programmed less artists allowing for longer sets, helping to create a smoother transition and a more dynamic musical experience. The ENTER.Terrace starts strong each night at 11 PM with some of today’s most exciting rising house talents, including South London Ordnance, Francesca Lombardo and even some special early sets from friends like Magda, Tale Of Us and Barem.
What role will the Sake bar play this year?
Our ENTER.Sake pre-parties last year were a huge success and often became a meeting point of friends, family and fans. This year we’ve taken a more playful approach with our Japanese theme of Music & Sake. Each week we will invite one of our favourite DJs to come down and play an exclusive set, including Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones and Nina Kraviz. As for the sake, we’ve created three limited edition SOOKUU bottles with our friends at Fujioka Sake Brewing Company from Kyoto, Japan.
Be sure to come down and enjoy our new extended family of DOT Sakes–Black, Silver and Gold-each representing a different grade (Junmaishu, Junmai Ginjo, Junmai Daiginjo respectively) of SOOKUU sake. Each week from 9.30 PM – 10.00 PM, Hito and I will be at the Sake bar doing an exclusive tasting, helping everyone to take their next step in their love, appreciation and understanding of this wonderful drink. KAMPAI!
What audio and visual production can we expect to see throughout the club?
We’ve changed the entire club into our own unique playground: everything at Space has been reconfigured just for your ENTER. Experience. You’ll find new structures, redesigned lighting, augmented sound and interactive panels all to entice you one step further into the world of ENTER.
What is the overall objective or vision for where you want the ENTER concept to go?
Much like a festival, I hope that ENTER. entices people’s curiosity and introduces them to new experiences, whether that’s a new found love of Japanese Sake, a playful moment with interactive technology or an introduction to the many different musical styles that each area has to offer.
Walking around ENTER. should be like a journey, an ever changing landscape of evolving beats, textures and moods all combining together to form a cohesive experience unlike anything else you’ll find on Ibiza. ENTER. invites everyone in, ENTER. challenges us all to take the next step and to find out what lies beyond our own horizon of understanding.
